SEPTEMBER-2010
General Manager - Diane Schafer...Another fabulous Marina Day!! It was so nice to see everyone supporting and enjoying the festivities of the day. Marina Day is a day to celebrate the boating family lifestyle with old friends and new ones. I wanted to thank Bimmy and his crew at Baja Bar for once again a superb job with the food and service. I also wanted to thank those who gave cash and material donations. One last thank you goes out to all those who donated their valuable time, most of all to Monica and Tracey for the many hours dedicated to organizing this event.
If you wish to stay in the water for the winter season, make sure to get your name on the list. There are only a limited number of boats permitted and the list will be cut off on 9/15.
Lease renewal packets should be going out within the next month or so ¿ keep your eye out for more information on your renewal packet.
Sales Crew - Ron Cook, Peter Pawlak & Ed Steinhauser...Hello boaters. What a beautiful hot summer boating season we have had, certainly a big change from last year. The weather has cooperated very nicely with us this year and sales have been great, and even though we are winding down from our season, there is still time to find the boat of your dreams. Our promotional partners at Sea Ray and Costco are still on board offering great savings on all new boats from 18' to 60'. It is never too late to get that boat you have been waiting for to come along, so stop by and see, Peter, Ed, or myself and let us help you get into your dream boat. As usual even though our inventories are down due to the high volume of sales, there are still many great pre-owned boats available. Interest rates on both new and used boats have been very good so stop in and see us.
IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!

If you are contemplating any winter work or improvement projects for your boat while it is in storage, this is the best time to schedule it with the service department. Boats with scheduled winter work will be placed in a special area of the yard so they can be moved to the shop for work during storage, then placed back in the yard for ease of launch in the spring.

Dockmasters - Reporting in for Duty¿Hello everyone! Well, it seems that this summer is going to be a record for great boating weekends. I would like to thank everyone for making the Dock masters summer a pleasure. Marina day was a great day and it was nice to see everyone. As always you have made the transient guest Dockers' feel right at home. I have received cards of thanks with a lot of positive words and telling me that they can't wait to reschedule a return visit. THANK YOU! We have been wandering around the docks making repairs and upgrades. If you see anything that needs looked at, please let a dock master know.
For all the dog owners, please make sure that your pet is on a leash when not on your boat.
We are still looking for mirror tags so please do not remove them. If you switch cars please transfer the tags or we will have no choice but to ask you to park your car up above in the big lot. As always, if you have any questions please see a dock master. Thanks, Luke
Marina Day ¿ Monica Johnson¿Thanks to all the folks who volunteered their time and energy to help make this year's Marina Day a huge success. It takes a massive amount of effort to pull this event together and it was truly wonderful to see not only the boaters that returned to help again this year, but the new faces that came to the Committee Meetings and that volunteered to help throughout the day from set-up thru clean-up the next morning. The work that goes on behind the scenes also deserves recognition ¿ the entire staff and dockmasters did an outstanding job. A special thanks goes out to Tracey and David for providing a kick-off breakfast, hours of entertainment for the kids and adults alike with the Rock Climbing Wall and the new additions of the Surfboard and Velcro Wall attractions; an excellent dinner (a nod to the Baja crew) and to end our day - the Hawaiian Luau show. The Poker Run, Breakfast Contributions and the Chinese Auction raised over $2,000 for the Humane Society. We have the best Marina in the Tri-State area and an even greater community of boaters ¿ you all have much to be proud of.
Baja Bar & Grill - Jimmy & Bimmy¿ Hey fellow boaters¿ Where did the summer disappear to? The outside deck bar will be closing shortly after the Labor Day weekend, but we still have some great entertainment planned for the Baja. Please check out the website at www.bajabargrill.com. There you will find the most current information, and your monthly calendar, for the latest information on entertainment. The Live bands will be here every Saturday night, playing indoors, so doesn't worry about the weather.
We have been hosting a lot of private parties here at the Baja throughout the summer, and now we are anticipating having our newest "private" room open soon. The Baja can take care of your entertainment needs, whether it is for a small group of friends or an office party for your business associates.
Don't forget, Tuesday, September 21st is the last Car Cruise of the season, so bring your ride, and hang with the rest of the car enthusiasts. The weatherman is predicting a warm, dry night.
Keep in mind the Baja has smoking and non-smoking areas available. The indoor bar is a designated smoking area and therefore anyone under the age of eighteen years is not permitted, however we do have non-smoking available in the "game room". We always welcome suggestions and comments, write to: baja@bajabargrill.com or call 412-963-0640.
See you at the bar¿. Bimmy & Jimmy
ABC Custom Canvas¿Let us do your repairs over the winter and get a 10% off discount! Eisenglass, zipper replacements, cushions, carpet, interiors and repairs. Please contact Pat in the Service Department.
Places To Go - Ray McDonald¿Well, since Lock 2, right below us, is to be closed for half of September, I'm suggesting a trip up the Allegheny. A very popular destination is "Rosston Eddy Marina", at mile 40.4, just above Lock 6. Though it's 4 locks up river, they are very easy locks and relatively close to one another. Once there, the people who work and boat in that area just couldn't be nicer or more helpful to transient boaters. I've been there several times, and look forward to my next trip there. Keep in mind for the return trip, Lock 6 is open Fri, Sat, Sun, and holidays, from 12:30 to 8:00 and Lock 5 is open daily from 7am to 10:30pm. Again, it's an easy one day up and one day back and remember, half the fun of going to another marina, is the beautiful trip each way. As always, any questions, you can find me on A Dock, slip A-14.

"CAPTAIN BUDDY'S CORNER"¿¿¿¿¿¿..
Hi Everyone,
Well, I think it is safe to say that another successful Marina Day has taken place. As you can see I am resting up after all the activity. I really wanted to try the Velcro wall but they did not bring any suites that would fit me. It looked like everyone had a great time, I know I did. It was great to see everyone supporting the marina.
Thanks to everyone for attending and as always¿See Ya 'round the river. Captain Buddy
